Out of the box, the cameras record, a message appears on the center screen, and that is where it stops. Whoever is keying your car, denting a door or vandalizing it is never interrupted.
Now your Tesla answers back. When Sentry spots someone, it flashes its headlights. Once, silently: enough to tell a prowler they are on camera, without waking the street. When the alarm goes off, the response steps up: horn and headlights together.

What an insurance claim or a police report needs.
With the Tesla app, the videos live on the car's USB drive. No readable history, no date, no place. For an insurance claim or a police report, you have to pull files off a drive and reconstruct the rest from memory.
With iCar, every approach, every alarm and every opening goes into a dated log, with the address, the time, the temperature, whether the car was locked and what it did in response. It is all kept securely for ninety days.
And there's more.
Tuned with a tap. The number of headlight flashes, their duration and the horn are set from the car's screen or the app.
Never a late horn. An alert that arrives more than a minute late still reaches you, but the car stays silent. Honking after the fact, at night, protects no one.
No flood of alerts. Next to a busy café, approaches are grouped: five minutes of quiet between two approach alerts, the alarm always.
Grouped and dated. In the log, close approaches count as one, with their number, and everything is sorted by month. A filter finds a year or a month in one tap.
Ready for the police report. The log keeps the parking address, which a police report needs in order to be filed.
Departures flagged. If the car starts moving, a notification alerts you right away.
